BERBATOV: CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY
How confident are you at the moment when you step onto the pitch?
-I'm pretty confident right now, for sure. I'm a striker and if I'm
scoring a lot of goals then my confidence is high, but the important
thing is how you react when you're not scoring goals. In those times
it's essential you remain confident. Every player goes through bad
times - the truly top players distinguish themselves then by not losing
confidence.
Where do you keep the match balls after scoring your hat-tricks?
-I keep them at home, after getting them signed by my team-mates. They're
very precious to me - they remind me that with hard work and belief you
can do a lot of good things.
Why have United looked like a different team away from home this season?-It's
hard to say why, but our opponents lift their game when we play at
their ground. We're the biggest club, so that's only natural. It makes
our job harder, but that's not an excuse: we need to be better away. At
home, we're doing really well, entertaining the fans, scoring a lot of
goals. The aim is to bring that to our away performances.
You won the league with United in 2008/09. How does the current side compare?-It's
not too different. Yes, we sold one or two people but the core of the
side has remained the same and that gives us an advantage. We're like
one big family - everybody supports each other, not only on the pitch
but off it, too. We're all great friends.
